Derick Lashon Simpson “Big Heav” was born on July 31, 1971 in Oakland, California to Regina Simpson, and raised by his beloved grand parents Johnnie and Ida Simpson, and a loving father Vick Crane Jr. who helped to raise and spoil him.
At an early age he dedicated his life to Christ, and united with St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Oakland, California.
Derick attended schools in the Bay Area from elementary on up to high school, where he eventually graduated high school from Dewey High Continuation School in 1989. He later went on to receive his certification as a Heavy Equipment Operator in Shreveport Louisiana in 2007.
Derick was a man who worked with his hands where he continued his occupation in warehousing and sorting, operating fort lifts and other heavy equipment as an operator.
Derick was blessed to find the love of his life long time girlfriend Kimberlyn Pace where they began building their life together in Stockton California. Kimberlyn brought so much joy to his life, that everyone who met them knew she was his soulmate.
Derick was preceded in death by his Father Vick Crane Jr., grand parents Johnnie and Ida Simpson.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Girlfriend Kimberlyn Pace, mother; Regina Crane, siblings; sister Takeia Watts (Daniel), sister Rachelle Brown, brother Reggie Crane, sister Yolonda Crane, two sons; Marquis Simpson, Derick Simpson Jr., two daughters; Deriana Simpson and Heavenly Simpson, two grandsons, god-mother; Charlena Davis(Eugene), god-brother; Robert SasserJr.(Lacey), god-sisters; Ramona Sasser, Rakisha Waiters (Jonathan), a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and very, very special friends!
