Obituary for Savino Luigi Minnetti

Savino Luigi Minnetti, of Stockton, peacefully passed away at the age of 88 on September 25, 2023. After a 15-month separation, he has now been joyfully reunited with his beautiful bride of 59 years. Savino, a cherished husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, is survived by his daughters Elizabeth (Stuart) Johnston, Denise (David) Olson, and his son Johnny Minnetti. He leaves behind his grandchildren Morgan (Marty) Johnston, Kellie (Ray) Harbin, Sabrina (Riley) Olson-Brand, Nikolas Minnetti, and great granddaughter Madison Harbin. He also leaves behind his sister, Gilda Strappa, and a large extended family and friends. Savino is preceded in death by his beloved wife Hind, his parents, Attilio and Perla Minnetti, his two brothers, and six sisters, Ave Luciani, Ivo Minnetti, Rosina Minnetti, Rosina Celetti, Lina Minnetti, Vittoria Minnetti, Anna Fuselli, and Aldo Minnetti.

Savino was born on July 13,1935 in Marina Palmense, Italy, he was the sixth oldest of ten children- seven girls and three boys. At the age of 23 in 1958, he set sail across the ocean to Canada, which he worked on the production line at General Motors and later as a bakery chef. Savino met the love of his life; Hind and they were married in 1963. They eventually moved to Stockton, CA in 1968, becoming business owners of a local grocery store for over 20 plus years. In his so-called retirement, Savino worked at various other local grocery stores and continued his entrepreneurship and ventured into a landscaping business.

Savino was a resilient, remarkable, hardworking man with a heart of gold. Known for his zest for life, cheerful demeanor, playfulness, and great sense of humor. He believed in laughter, always had a story and a joke to tell you. His pride in his Italian heritage was evident, always believing that anything that was made in Italy was the highest quality. During his leisure time, he enjoyed activities such as hunting, playing bingo, poker and, of course, visiting casinos. Savino took immense pride in his family, always eager to showcase his grandchildren to anyone and everyone.

His absence will be deeply felt, and the impact of his loss is immeasurable. Savino will be remembered and cherished by all, forever in the hearts of those whose lives he touched. Until we meet again, we will hold onto the memories of a life well lived and the love he generously shared.

A service to celebrate Savino’s life will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023, 10:00 am, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 215 W Walnut St., Lodi, CA.
