Obituary for Rosalie Francis DePriest

Rosalie F. Kinnebrew DePriest, age 101, entered heaven on November 28, 2022 after enjoying a few hours with her loving daughter/caregiver Sue Greenlee, her granddaughter, Jodi Perry and her husband, Darold of Placerville, CA., her great-granddaughter Lexie Horton and great-grandson Zack Horton of the Sacremento area. She spoke on the phone to her granddaughter Jill Greenlee Desmet in Germany, and her son Bud DePriest in Florida. We shared how very much we loved her and asked her to say hello to some special people in heaven for us.

Rosalie was born in EL Reno, Oklahoma on September 25, 1921, the loving first daughter of Rev. Walter and Susie Kinnebrew. Preceding her to heaven were her parents, her loving husband of 66 years, Virgil L. DePriest, and her husband of 5 years, Keith McMullin; her sisters, Fredia Prueitt and Nelda Smith. She is survived by her brother, Dwight (Betty) Kinnebrew of Stockton, CA., her daughter Sue Greenlee and her son Bud (Sally) DePriest of Florida. Her granddaughters, Jill Greenlee (Daniel) Desmet and Jodi (Darold) Perry , who shared their home, church, vacations and life; and grandchildren Dr. Christopher (Robin) DePriest of N. Carolina and Gretchen (Robert) Ardelean. Her great-grandkids, Jacob and Seth Perry, Lexie and Zack Horton, Max DePriest and Lauren Ardelean. Many neices and nephews including Judy Huffman and her brother Walt Givens and Saundra Stinnett of Oregon, and preceding her to heaven Colleen Shinn of Idaho. Additionally, many great-neices and nephews including Korrie Reed of Idaho.

A very favorite of hers were any and all family gatherings, birthdays, weddings, graduations, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Her family were very important to her and she prayed daily for them, naming each one. She enjoyed playing the piano over 10 years for a men’s quartet with her husband Virgil, who sang Gospel for several different rehabilitation, convalescent and retirement hospital/homes in Lodi, Manteca and Stockton.

She will always be remembered as a faithful servant to our Lord, for loving Him and her undying faith in Him. She began playing the piano for the Nazarene Church in El Reno, Ok when she was 12 yrs old and continued playing the piano and organ for several churches, the last time was when she was 94 yrs old for Horizon Christian Fellowship formerly Delta Nazarene Church. Pastors Wayne Folmer and Steve Scott were very special to her, as were their wives, Dorcus Folmer and Debbie Scott.

She loved reading the Bible and other Christian publications, mostly written by Dr. David Jeremiah, whom she met in person at Shadow Mountain Church in El Cajon, CA. It was on her bucket list to meet him. She also loved going to Southern Gospel concerts including many in Visilia, Modesto, Rocklin, Sacramento and Nampa, Idaho. She especially enjoyed seeing the Gaither Vocal Band, the Collingsworth Family, the Hoppers IMC concerts and the Texas Tenors to name a few.

She entered the business world at Stockton Music Studio on Pacific Ave , selling pianos and organs while giving lessons. After they closed, she enjoyed working in the insurance field as a claims clerk for 30 years. Lastly, enjoying taking rides, especially up and down Hiway 1 on the coast or anywhere in the country where she was amazed at all of God’s creations; the beautiful trees, flowers, mountains, rivers and oceans, especially the trees.

Her Celebration of Life will be held January 28, 2023, 2PM, at Horizon Christian Fellowship, 10702 Lower Sacramento Rd., Stockton, CA. All family and friends are invited to come celebrate her home going.
