Obituary for Marion Elizabeth Carl

With deep regret felt by so many, Marion passed away Monday evening, March first, while at Lincoln Square Care Facility in Stockton, California. Marion was born August 9, 1928 in Ashland, Nebraska. Later, while working at a bank, she met her future husband, Robert Carl. They were married in 1954 and moved to Stockton in 1957 with young son Robert Jr. and after the move along came son James. Robert Carl Senior worked for Stockton Unified School District.
Marion was a homemaker who was kept busy raising two active children. She was involved in multiple community organizations. In 1948 she joined The P. E. O. Sisterhood (philanthropic and educational organization) where she proudly held many official positions, served and participated for 73 years. She was an election official, and held memberships in the PTA, the Women’s Nine Hole group at Van Buskirk Golf Course, and the Delta A’s Ford Club.
While not busy with the above groups she enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, reading, bowling, gardening, civic theater and shows, and golfing. After raising her sons and having more time available she enjoyed extensive travel and excelled in creating beautiful, high detail and intricate wood working projects. Many of her creations were shared with family, friends, and donated for fund raising events throughout San Joaquin County. Marion also enjoyed jewelry making, drawing, model car building, and many fine detailed projects. She enjoyed cooking but really liked going out to eat.
She is survived by son Robert Jr. (Debbi) and son James (Dina), four grandchildren Nicole, Timothy, Steven, and Felisha and by eight great grandchildren. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by many people.
If you would like to donate on her behalf to her beloved organization, you may send to P. E. O. California State Chapter, P. O. Box 5617, Whittier, CA 90607.
