Our beloved, Hilda "Marie" Harrison, was born in Kansas City, Missouri, January 30th, 1948, to prouds parents, Kenzi Lewis and Mittie Magnolia Shelby of Louisana. Marie was a middle child and one of nine children, her siblings, Deloris, Charles, Ardelia, Flora Jean, Kenzi, Jr., Ricky, Renee & Albert. Marie came to San Francisco, California with her family at an early age, she attended Polytechnic High School, and graduated with a degree from San Francisco State University.

In 1966 Marie met and married Naim Thomas Harrison, Sr, to that union three children were born, Arieann, Thomas, Jr. and Shana Harrison. Marie has 14 sister in laws and brother in laws, Ernie Ruth, Johnny Ruth, Donna, Shirley, Deborah Jean, Diane, Gwen, Anette, Charles, Wilber, Larry, Michael, Milton, & Webb.

Marie was in Retail Management for many years and worked as a professional shopper at a well known high end store in San Francisco. Marie stumbled into housing advocacy in the 90's during the demolition of the Geneva Towers Project. Marie was a writer and worked as a columnist for the San Francisco Bayview Newspaper for many years.

Perhaps, her most notable work was as an advocate for environmental health through Greenaction Health and Environmental Justice Organization, fighting for health and safety of others. Marie gave voice to the voiceless, she fought for those who could not fight for themselves and wasn't afraid to raise her voice and be heard.

Marie enjoyed music, R&B and gospel were her favorites and she loved to sing and was very good at it. Marie was a professional shopper with an eye for fashion and design, her gardening skills were exceptional, she grew herbs, spices and vegetables in her back yard, she also loved to paint, travel and cook.

Marie was proceeded in death by her parents Mittie and Kenzi, and her husband Naim, sisters and brothers, Deloris, Ardelia, Kenzi, Jr., and Ricky, sister in laws and brother in laws, Richard, James, Johnny Ruth, Donna, Gwen, Diane, Shirley, Charles, Wilber and Webb.

Marie has seven Grandchildren, Giovonni, Taylor, Tyriek, Roman, Tomauria, Takai and Tianna. Marie also has three Great Grandchildren, Jerell, Jaycee and Tyriek Jr.

Marie leaves to mourn her three children Arieann, Thomas Jr, and Shana, son in law Terry and daughter in law, Stacey, sisters, Flora Jean and Renee, brothers Charles, and Albert. Uncle Joseph and Aunt Shelia. Sister in laws, Enrie Ruth, Deborah Jean, Anette, Bridget brother in laws, Michael, Larry, and Milton and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and friends.

She will be dearly missed.
