Obituary for Kevin Douglas Thrower

Print
Kevin Douglas Thrower was the second baby boy born to the union of Dorothy and Adail
Thrower on April 29, 1970. Kevin was most affectionately known by family and childhood
friends as “KT.” Those who knew him, loved him, worked with him, and cared for him knew
Kevin as a man with impeccable work ethic, a great sense of humor, and someone who was
always looking out for his people.

Kevin grew up in the “Southside” neighborhood of Stockton, where he attended Garfield
Elementary, Pulliam Elementary, Van Buren Elementary, Webster Middle School, and received
his high school diploma from A.A. Stagg High School.

From an early age, it quickly became apparent that Kevin was good with his hands. These
acquired skills followed him into adulthood and led him to earn an Associate’s Degree in
Automotive Service Technology with a specialized certificate in Diesel Mechanics from Arizona
Automotive Technology (Phoenix, AZ). He was a beloved automotive mechanic, not only to his
family, but longtime friends and associates from the neighborhood of his upbringing as well as
the city at large, other businesses he worked with in surrounding areas, and while residing in
Arizona.

Kevin will always be remembered as a tough-skinned jokester with the heart of pure gold. If ever
you needed a good laugh, a bold defender, someone to change your oil, fix your flat, run a
diagnostic when your “check engine” light popped on, or even to help potty train your puppy, KT
was the man to call. He would hardly ever turn down an opportunity to help somebody out, no
matter how many projects he was already taking on.

One thing Kevin will always be unmatched at is his storytelling capabilities. We will forever
hold these stories in our hearts and tell them to the best of our ability, for generations to come.
The story of our beloved Kevin, will forever live on.
