Obituary for Judith Louise Sproull

Judith Sproull of Lodi, California, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021. Known to all as Judy, she was born August 17, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Joseph Lawrence and Louise Frieda Hixson who preceded her in death.
Following her graduation from high school, she worked at Union Gospel Press in Cleveland, Ohio, for a time as a returns clerk. She then graduated from Northeastern Bible Institute. She then received a Master’s Degree in Theology from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts. She taught a number of Bible subjects for four years at Free Gospel Bible Institute in Export, Pennsylvania. For a number of years she labored for the Lord with her husband in ministry at a number of churches in Arizona. She once stated that she had worked with children’s ministry for about 25 years.
Judy also taught in Women’s prayer group ministry as well as teaching in several adult Sunday School classes. She loved to study and research the Bible using The Pulpit Commentary, and Thiesson’s Theology Book. Even after she was no longer teaching, she would have her commentaries by her side as she read the Bible in her morning devotions. Her passion was to train her children, Marcy and Alan, in the ways of the Lord. Judy had a passion to support Bill Wilson’s Metro World Child Ministries in New York City, a very large Sunday School ministry to the unchurched and unreached children of the city.
She was known by many for her beautiful smile at St Peter Lutheran Church, where she attended following her diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease.
Judy is survived by her husband Alan Sproull, Sr., two adult children, daughter Marcy Sproull of Encino, California, and son Alan Sproull, Jr. of Lodi, California.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 2400 Oxford Way, Lodi, California, on Saturday, January 8th, at 11:00 AM, followed by a luncheon in the gymnasium.
