Obituary for Flossie Lee Roots

Print
On Sunday, March 7, 1954, was the birth of Flossie Lee Roots. Her parents were the late JC and Ida Mae Roots. Flossie was raised in Stockton California and was the 5th child out of 11. She graduated from Edison High School. Flossie was married at an early age to Darrell Oliver and the two had a daughter named Talicia. Besides Talicia, Flossie had 4 other children, Patricia, Georgette, Thomas and Maxine.
During her younger years Flossie was the life of the party, known to make you laugh, tell it like is and never bite her tongue, she was funny, loved to look good(You wouldn’t catch her without her eyebrows done). She enjoyed being around others socializing, cooking, going fishing, watching movies but valued her quiet time where she would crotchet and knit. Flossie overcame many struggles throughout her life. Before getting sick Flossie enjoyed road trips to the beach, she loved discovering new things, hanging out with her best friend Virginia.

Words from her Daughters:
I am my mother’s child, but when you look at me you see her. When you hear my laugh, you think just like her mama. I am my mother’s child I’ve walked in her shoes knew her struggles and her pain. My mom the woman who has always believed in me no matter what life had to bring I’ve always seen strength in my mamma. Take care of her girls. I will always love you mamma. I miss you mamma, tell Granny I said I love and miss her………Love Patricia Speight
What I want people to know and remember about my mother Flossie is that she was a strong and courageous woman. She wasn’t afraid to give up everything and start over………. Love Ya Mom!!! Georgette Hutchings
Where do I start, Ms. Feisty Flossie Roots was one of a kind. I don’t think there was none like her. She was her own image, I will truly miss all the times she drove me crazy I truly was grateful to have that. Things that Ms. Flossie left me are words of boldness, great heart and memories I will hold on to mom. I love and will truly miss you……………………...Yours truly your miracle child Maxine Tanner

She leaves to cherish her memories her five children: Patricia Speight, Talicia Lee, Georgette Hutchings, Thomas Tanner and Maxine Tanner, her brother Roy Roots and sisters Martha Hempstead and Maryann Hickey and a host of other family and friends.
