Obituary for Dennis Francis Bennett

Dennis Francis Bennett passed away suddenly at the young age of 61, on Sunday, September 24, 2023. Born in Avenal, CA on September 19, 1962, to Ann Lopiparo and Charles “Clark” Bennett, he was the middle of three children. Dennis spent his childhood growing up in Millbrae, CA; graduating from Mills High School in 1980, where he ran and competed statewide with the Cross-Country track team. Dennis then attended Sacramento State earning his Bachelor of the Arts degree in Communication Studies in 1987. During this time, he became a born again Christian and he met the love of his life Pamela (Dooley) in San Mateo, CA in 1985. The two wed on August 1, 1987, and began living the next 36 years of their lives together; living all over the bay area until settling in Stockton, CA in 2000. Dennis worked as a production manager for Sigma Circuits from 1987-2004, leaving briefly to work for Mitsubishi Chemical. However, in 2004, he partnered with his brother Tim Bennett at Creative Paint, and this is where he found his true passion working as a painting contractor. His desire to help others was prevalent in his daily work making the work projects more enjoyable for him than not.

When Dennis wasn’t spending time with his grandchildren after work or on the weekends, you’d find him helping whoever needed it (friends, family, neighbors, strangers, anyone). He was also known for his love of Chess, US Supreme Court Cases, Armstrong & Getty, reading books from his favorite authors, and never resting any longer than was needed to survive. If you knew Dennis, you knew his adventurous spirit well, and that his heart was also ten times too big. He loved taking care of people and you’d most recently see him playing with the grandkids in the front yard, roaming around the neighborhood on this vintage dirt bike gifted to him this last year, mowing the neighbor’s lawn/helping them with various projects, along with completing his never-ending honey-do list to make all Pamela’s crafty dreams come to life. He also always had a shadow around the house, the grandchildren would follow him everywhere and his patience is something we all admired. People always came to him even if it was for a quick “hello” or if someone was needing a mentor. Dennis always seemed to have the right advice (whether you agreed or not), he was level minded and had a way with making everyone feel understood and cared for, his calm and collect attitude made it easy for him to see the positive in every situation.

Many core memories of Dennis are rooted from his strong belief in the importance of quality family time, no matter how that was expressed. His ability to make every situation into a game will always be remembered; including ones with his children like giving $100 to anyone that could beat him in a game of Chess, betting them that he would never miss a word while singing Pink Floyd songs in the car, begging them to walk on his back or give him a pedicure (something they would still do to this very day). His excitement for life was truly contagious and will be admired forever.

He survived by his loving wife Pamela Bennett; children Brianna Bennett, Brooke Bennett, and Beau Bennett; grandchildren Liam & Declan (Brianna), Adeline & Troy (Brooke); his mother Ann Lopiparo and father Charles “Clark” Bennett; and his two siblings Tim Bennett (Edith) and Stephanie Ramirez (Ricardo). Dennis is also remembered by his mother in-law Deanna Dooley and in-laws, Robert Dooley (Ashton), Peggy Schmidt (Lyle), and Patty Christensen; two bonus grandchildren (Ryder and Presley); along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
