Obituary for David "DJ" Akers

David John Akers (DJ)

On October 25, 2023 David John Akers passed away unexpectedly due to a violent crime. David was well known on the east side of Stockton where he grew up and made many friends. DJ was the funniest kid growing up and a strong speller. He loved to play video games and watch wrestling. He would always practice his new wrestling moves on the neighborhood kids. Growing up DJ looked forward to the annual family tradition hunting trips with his grandpa, dad, uncles, and cousins. Every Saturday DJ would go to the races with his father, Dave and sister, Cheryl. He enjoyed riding his bike and being out with his friends all day until dark. All the neighborhood kids would come over to swim and play video games with DJ every summer. Needless to say, DJ made our house a cool house.

As David grew up he explored various work fields. David got his first job with Johnothan Iddings at the parking garage with one of his best friends, but that didn’t last long. Haha. He had the opportunity to work and travel with the carnival throughout California. David later worked on cars learning the trade. He even helped install the floors in the dressing section at the local Walmart on Hammer Ln. Some time after his adventures in the parking garage and traveling with the carnival DJ met Anita. This was a relationship that would change DJ’s life forever. On October 6th, 2009 the greatest gift of his life entered this world, Brianna Monique Akers. DJ adored his baby girl, Brianna. He enjoyed spending time coloring with her and loving on her the best way he knew how.

DJ had a heart of gold. He would help you out if you needed it no matter what. DJ loved being out and hanging with friends. He was a huge Raider fan and an even bigger Kali Boiz fan. One thing about DJ, if you were his friend he considered you and treated you like family and you had a friend for life. David (DJ), you will be forever missed and forever loved.
