Charles ‘Elaine’ Johnson

Charels Elaine Johnson passed away among her children and family on October 4th, 2023, at the age of seventy-five. She was born in Columbia Mississippi on December 11, 1947, to Charles and Sarah Hendricks. Elaine was delivered into this world by her Great Grandmother and Midwife, Trudie Jackson and is the oldest of five siblings. At an early age, the Hendricks family moved to San Francisco, CA., where Elaine attended elementary school. Being a military daughter, she attended Bamberg Junior High in Germany which her English teacher coined "Elaine is the school social butterfly". After her junior high years, the Hendricks family returned to Northern California where Elaine graduated from Ravenswood Highschool in Menlo Park, CA in 1965. During that time, she met and fell in love with Clifford Johnson. During Clifford’s Military tenure she along with her children lived oversees in Germany followed by Panama. One of her highlights in Panama, was playing softball in a lady’s softball league.

Elaine was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, she attended church regularly and had bibles in every room. She collected angels and had scriptures pasted throughout her home. Elaine enjoyed talking on the phone with her family, watching soap operas, reading books. She had a green thumb, everything she planted grew and blossomed, she never had a bad hair day, and she loved to cook soul food for her family. She treated her neighbors like family by cooking, hosting movie nights and caring for their plants. Elaine was strong willed, funny, encouraging, festive, always greeting family, friends, and strangers alike with her beautiful smile.

Elaine held various job positions in her lifetime, however her passion was caring for others. She obtained her Medical Assistant license in 1975 and held a career in the healthcare industry caring for others, with her specialty being an in-home care provider for over 20 years.

Elaine was a loving Mother, Grand Mother, Great Grandmother, and Big Sister. She cherished her three children Stacy Louise Murphy, Orion Garnell Johnson, and Clifford Louis Johnson II. She leaves behind 10 Grand Children, Shalice Elaine Morgan, Phillip Morgan, Clifford Johnson III, Eric Storey, Orion Johnson Jr, Cai Johnson, Darrion Murphy, Azaria Johnson, Elijah Johnson, and Jeramiah Johnson. 7 Great Grandchildren, Braylon Lindsey, Chi ‘Anne Johnson, Bailey Morgan, Braxtyn Morgan, Semei Johnson, Bethany Morgan, and Sade Johnson. Elaine leaves behind her brother Gerald Wayne Hendricks and her sister Bridgette Louise Hendricks whom she loves very much and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents Charles and Sarah Hendricks, brother Micheal Hendricks, sister Eunice Hendricks- King and by her husband Clifford Johnson Sr.

Although our heart is heavy with sorrow. It is comforting to know how much others care.
